Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds
Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds is the soundtrack for the Meaningful Eye Contact feature film of the same name. It was originally released in 1989 on CD and vinyl. This version is a newly-mastered 30th Anniversary edition, featuring 2 tracks that originally only appeared on the vinyl release. and a further 3 previously unreleased tracks.
I created the soundtrack of Spirits from samples of all kinds of recordings I made on the location: wind blowing across bottles, some Aeolian wind harps that we built specially for the show, droning tones in empty water tanks, squeaks and creaks and groans. I still enjoy its strange blend of melancholy atmospherics and quasi-orchestral grandeur.
